[Why is Kathy Augustine dead?] Kathy Augustine was a politician serving in the Nevada Senate. Shortly after her husband of 17 years died from complications of a stroke, she married Chaz Higgs, the critical care nurse who had been caring for her late husband. On July 8, 2006, she was found unconscious in her home; she died four days later from an apparent heart attack.
